Depression can lead to things like weight gain, divorce, alcoholism and drug addiction, and very sadly, even suicide. It's a very serious disorder that needs to be treated seriously. Remember that seeing a psychiatrist doesn't mean you are crazy or in need of medical attention at all. You do not have to schedule regular appointments. Instead of setting out of control goals and expectations, focus on making smart and realistic objectives so that you can hit each objective and work towards the bigger goals behind them.

Talk to someone that is aware of your depression about your feelings. Find one person that you can confide in, such as a therapist or a family member that can help you sort out your thoughts. Sometimes having an outsider's view can give you a new perspective on what you are going through.
