Learning About The Human Mind Through Psych-k Workshops

By Leigh Bean

Some people may probably have heard that the mind and body are directly connected in all aspects. Well, this is one of the primary Eastern philosophies because unlike the Westerners, people of the East believe that even if the mind is affected, then there must be a problem with the body too. This is one of the core principles of the well known psychological methods today known as psych-k. Here are some of things that one may expect during psych-k workshops.

Basically, this method allows a person to expel all of his negative thoughts and perceptions about life and himself in general. These techniques allow one to replace negative energy with a more constructive and positive energy that will enable him to get through with all of the challenges in life. Practitioners have helped countless number of people get rid of mental illnesses discover the beauty of life itself.

Unlike conventional psychological therapy, this practice does not limit itself just to the mind. Its founder, Doctor Robert Williams, M. A., also believed that the divine soul of a human also had a big role to play in psychotherapy. It can be seen that his method combines both western and eastern beliefs of the mind and body.

Now the concept of involuntary muscular motions in the body is very crucial to the psych-k method because without it, diagnosis will be very hard. Basically, if the subconscious mind is in attempting to analyze a particular topic, then some muscles in the body will move in a certain way. This is the very basis of each diagnosis that the practitioner will make on his patient.

In a workshop, the student will learn which muscles correspond to which belief. A basic example of that is when the patient would think of a particular issue about himself, his muscles will either move rapidly or slowly. If the movement is rapid, then the patient has a positive outlook on that belief. On the contrary, if the involuntary movements in the body are rather slow and weak, then he most probably has a negative perception on the issue.

Through a simple muscle reaction test, a practitioner will easily be able to determine what the main issue of his patient is. Since each reaction corresponds to a particular problem in the subconscious, then a diagnosis can be done in just a matter of minutes. When the negative belief is spotted, it can now be changed rather quickly.

Now with regard to how long it will take before patients can expect change, well it really all depends. If the case is rather severe, then it will take longer than usual. If it is probably just a mild case of self actualization problems, then it may not take that long before progress is seen. After all, it will all depend on the person being treated.

So those are some of the things that one will learn when he attends psych-k workshops. The practitioners will gladly teach their learners how to dismiss any negative perceptions and how to curb bad thoughts. All in all, it will be a very positive, life changing experience.
